Hello, I'm Mallory!

I'm a Digital Designer, Strategist, and Educator of all things UX and Brand Design. After graduating with degrees in Graphic and UX Design, I made it my mission to use social media to empower others to pursue their creativity and make the design community more inclusive and accessible overall.

A little about me

I am a digital designer with an emphasis on creating detailed and engaging experiences. In my day job, I work with small and large teams to solve complex problems through research, design, and collaboration. My main interest is in interactive, print, video, and motion design. When I am not at my computer or sketchbook, I run my studio as a side-hustle, sending out a creative newsletter weekly, and posting daily content on social channels such as TikTok and Instagram are some of the ways I contribute to the growth of the design community. Outside of my career goals, I am passionately interested in creating art and spending time outdoors with my dog.

Why did I start making UX/UI videos?

I started my journey on TikTok while I was in quarantine. At first, I thought it was just a fun app, but then I found other designers, and I knew I wanted to get involved as part of the design community. I started making UX/UI videos because I wanted to help other designers and connect with them about UX/UI topics. At first I was afraid. It was a big surprise to gain more followers, and I started getting in touch with other designers and content creators.

As a trained visual designer, I have spent years researching strategy and figuring out how to bring depth to my design work. Specializing in user experience, I have acquired a variety of skills and tools to help make products better for the people who use them.

For us designers it is important to react professionally and flexibly to new challenges of modern technology, we need to continuously improve and improve.

Career Influencers turned Changemakers

If a picture is worth a thousand words what's a video worth

Social media is not usually the first place someone might turn for career advice. More often, it is a forum for entertaining or sharing glossy photos from a vacation. However, a growing number of TikTok creators are using social media to impart career wisdom to the masses.

These content creators, known as career influencers, use their social media to help students and young professionals navigate the precarious world of work.
At Flipptap they are known as Changemakers.
Our Changemakers are verified real students and professionals who believe in our mission to democratize access to information and help create a new professional community where everyone can learn hands-on skills, mentorship and career guidance for free with one-minute videos.
They break down barriers by taking control their careers with video, showing employers their skills and showing immediate value to each network.
Best of all, they show people a new way of connecting that goes beyond email: by sharing their knowledge, success and failure stories via video.

"I love how Flipptap is making job-hunting approachable and creative!" - Mallory Dean

I love how Flipptap is making job-hunting approachable and creative! With the rise of remote work, it is important now more than ever to be able to show your personality and skills online.
I love that companies look for culture fit - I was interviewed in a company where they did a culture fit interview - and they asked regular icebreaker questions, so Flipptap's icebreaker is perfect.
One feature I value most about Flipptap is your profile - it's familiar to my age group, I would go in and know what to do and how to move in it.
I really like the icebreaker and spotlight videos.
