I am currently in the first year of my MD / MPH program. I graduated with a BS in Human Biology from UCSD, got a Masters in Business and Science from KGI. I hope to specialize in Emergency Medicine and eventually become the Medical Director of a hospital involved in Public Health Policy. My goals are to help others achieve their dreams of getting accepted into medical school and encourage students to pursue their STEM career goals.
I started my journey as a medical student in July. So many things have happened since then. I started sharing Med videos with the STEM community on TikTok, where I found many amazing people!

As a pre-medical student, I always thought that as long as I could study medicine, my life would be perfect. Now that I am finally here, I am grateful, but it is hard. Coursework and studying definitely take up almost all of my waking hours, and it is really annoying when you have little free time to pursue your old hobbies or self-care as much as you would like. Nevertheless, I am grateful to connect with like-minded people and share my experiences with them!
I desired to make an impact in the community around me, and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. Nothing gave me more satisfaction than to be able to help guide the people around me towards a happy, healthy, quality life. The thought of this is what keeps me going.
I wanted to provide my viewers and supporters with educational and motivational content revolving around the premed path and medical school! I had the blessing of having many people to turn to for advice during my premed journey, and I wanted to give something back by creating a TikTok account that provides helpful and supportive content to young people. Nothing makes me happier than to know that I could even help someone a little bit towards achieving their dreams.
If a picture is worth a thousand words what's a video worth
Social media is not usually the first place someone might turn for career advice. More often, it is a forum for entertaining or sharing glossy photos from a vacation. However, a growing number of TikTok creators are using social media to impart career wisdom to the masses.
These content creators, known as career influencers, use their social media to help students and young professionals navigate the precarious world of work.
At Flipptap they are known as Changemakers.
Our Changemakers are verified real students and professionals who believe in our mission to democratize access to information and help create a new professional community where everyone can learn hands-on skills, mentorship and career guidance for free with one-minute videos.
They break down barriers by taking control their careers with video, showing employers their skills and showing immediate value to each network.
Best of all, they show people a new way of connecting that goes beyond email: by sharing their knowledge, success and failure stories via video.
Maxine is a verified Changemaker on Flipptap because she wanted to make a difference in the community around her.
After talking to her, it was clear that nothing makes her more satisfied than helping to lead the people around her to a happy, healthy and high-quality life.
Students are going through a very difficult path by moving their education out of the classroom into a virtual environment. We no longer have access to like-minded students with similar career paths and access to career counseling.
When the world went into a quarantine in 2020, Maxine took control of her career and inspired other students to pursue careers in STEM by sharing her journey, successes & failures and career tips in short videos.
She gives tips and tricks how she got into medical school despite a low GPA. Fearless and resilient is how we would define Maxine!
Maxine is committed to giving back to the STEM community and is a role model for young women pursuing careers in STEM subjects.
Flipptap will be the new, innovative way for young professionals to network with peers and show off their skills to potential employers.
It allows one to showcase your project, skills, and personality through short-video formats, making the platform like a combination of Tiktok, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Especially during these times where remote and virtual work is the new norm and finding jobs and internships are harder than ever, being a part of this novel platform may help you with your search as well as with your personal growth!
